The role

We’re about to launch Defend Twin, one of our new products.

Now we need someone to help us manage our legal operations with users.

First we need you to get up to speed with how takedown requests work, then help us build a good system for handling them.

You'll research the relevant platforms, policies and processes, map what happens when someone reports unauthorised use of their likeness, and help turn that knowledge into clear, repeatable workflows.

There isn't a finished playbook waiting for you. Part of your job is helping us write it.

Before launch

You'll need to get smart on this space, fast.

That means reading. A lot.

Platform policies. Takedown procedures. Relevant legislation and regulation. Existing processes. Edge cases. What happens when something works and what happens when it doesn't.

We don't expect you to arrive knowing everything. We do expect you to be someone who sees a knowledge gap and thinks “I'll figure it out.”

You'll work with the team to turn that research into the processes, documentation and workflows we need to launch Defend Twin confidently.

After launch

This is where it gets particularly interesting.

You'll start seeing what happens when the processes we've designed meet the real world.

You'll work hands-on with our users and customers, understand the requests they're actually making and identify where our processes need to change.

You'll hear what's confusing. What's taking too long. What's repetitive. What's frustrating. What's missing.

Then you'll help us make it better.

More user-friendly. More consistent. Faster. And, wherever it makes sense, more heavily automated.

What you'll do

• Research and map takedown processes across relevant platforms and services.
• Help build Defend Twin's internal takedown-request workflows from the ground up.
• Research relevant platform policies, legislation and regulatory developments.
• Create clear internal documentation and operational guidance.
• Support users through established processes and explain what happens next.
• Gather feedback directly from users and customers.
• Identify patterns across requests and feed those insights back into the business.
• Find bottlenecks, repetitive work and opportunities for automation.
• Work across Legal Ops, Product, Operations and Customer Experience to continuously improve Defend Twinn.
• Help us build processes that are fast without becoming careless.
• Get involved in whatever else needs solving. We're a startup.
• You will also have support from our legal team, especially in client-facing tasks.

One very important boundary

You are not here to provide legal advice.

This role is legal operations, research and process, not legal representation or legal advisory work.

You will not be supervised by a qualified lawyer, so understanding that boundary is important.

You'll work within established processes, provide factual and procedural information where appropriate, and recognise when something falls outside your remit and needs to be escalated.

Good judgement here matters more than pretending to know an answer.

How we work

We don't hire people to wait for instructions.

We're a small team. Everyone has ownership. Everyone wears more than one hat. If something isn't working, you're expected to say so and ideally come with an idea for making it better.

We move quickly, use AI heavily, automate wherever it makes sense and apply human judgement where it matters.

We don't expect perfection on the first attempt. We do expect ownership, responsiveness and the ability to learn quickly.

Competency fit matters. Human fit does too.

Most job descriptions tell you what you need to be able to do. We care just as much about how you do it.

The people using Defend Twin may be dealing with something deeply personal. Someone may have taken their face, manipulated their likeness or used their identity somewhere they never agreed to appear.

They don't need someone cold, robotic or buried in legal jargon.

They need someone who listens.

Someone approachable. Someone calm. Someone our customers can trust.

And then they need that person to move quickly and actually get things done.

That's the combination we're looking for.

What we're looking for

You may be studying law, recently graduated, completing further legal studies or coming from another background that has given you strong legal research and analytical skills.

More importantly, you're:

• A self-starter. You don't need someone to create a reading list for you. You find the information, understand it and work out what matters.
• Fast and responsive. Things move quickly here and users shouldn't be left wondering whether anyone is dealing with their problem.
• Trustworthy. You'll be handling sensitive situations and information. Good judgement is non-negotiable.
• Approachable. You can speak to people like humans, particularly when they're dealing with something stressful or uncomfortable.
• Curious. AI, likeness rights and digital identity are evolving quickly. You genuinely want to understand what's happening.
• Open-minded. You're comfortable working in an area where some of the rules, technology and norms are still being written.
• Happy wearing many hats. Research in the morning, customer conversations after lunch, and process mapping in the afternoon. That's startup life.
• Detail-oriented without being slow. You understand when precision matters but don't use perfection as an excuse not to move.
• Motivated by the mission. You understand that online likeness misuse isn't just an interesting legal problem. There's a real person on the other side of it.

The honest version

This isn't an internship where you'll spend three months observing people doing the interesting work.

We're launching a product in an area that is developing in real time.

Some of the questions you'll encounter won't have a neat answer yet. Some of the processes you build will need changing a week later because we've learned something new.

The standards are high. The pace is fast. And because we're dealing with people's identity, consent and likeness, getting things right matters.

In return, you'll get genuine ownership unusually early in your career.

You'll work directly with the leadership team, speak to real users, help shape a live product and see how legal thinking gets translated into technology and operations inside an AI startup.

If you want an internship where someone hands you a neat list of tasks every Monday, this probably isn't it.

If you want to get deeply into a new area, solve messy problems, talk to real people and help build something that protects them, we should talk.

You'd be building the app that verified humans use to set their licensing terms, approve requests and get paid, and the dashboard our enterprise partners use to license likeness at scale. It's a small engineering team, so your decisions ship fast and reach real users within days, not quarters.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain the consumer-facing Twinnin app, from verification flow through licence approvals and earnings tracking
• Implement the new UX and visual identity coming out of our current rebrand
• Work closely with backend engineers to integrate identity verification and consent-state features into the front end
• Build out enterprise-facing dashboard features for brands, broadcasters and AI labs
• Own performance, accessibility and responsiveness across the product

What we're looking for

• Strong, practical experience with React and TypeScript
• Experience turning a design system into production UI
• An eye for accessibility and performance, not just as a checklist
• Comfort with the pace and ambiguity of an early-stage startup
• Bonus: exposure to verifiable credentials, C2PA, or blockchain-based identity (we use Polygon)
